Respect in Relationship

Dear Participant,

thank you for your interest in participating in the Respect in Relationship training, which was developed as part of the EU NextGenerationEU – Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Slovak Republic (No. 09I03-03-V04-00258) under the leadership of Prof. Júlia Halamová, PhD., Institute of Applied Psychology, Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences, Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia.
We believe that this training will help you deepen the mutual respect in your relationship.

When we feel that we have to fight for recognition, the relationship can easily cycle into reproaches, arguments, or silence. This training will teach you how to change this and build a relationship where you both feel respected, accepted, and mutually appreciated. Through the tasks, you will acquire practical skills such as expressing appreciation, saying no without judgment, and strengthening trust and self-esteem.

Over 14 days, the individual tasks will guide you step by step toward a deeper understanding of your behavioral patterns and developing the ability to emotionally attune to yourself and your partner.
For ease of reading, we use the masculine gender throughout the text regardless of sex and the word partner to refer to a husband, wife, or other romantic partner.

These exercises have the greatest benefit when you do them together as a couple. This way you can share experiences with each other, talk about what you have realized, and immediately try it out in practice or give each other feedback on the training. Joint training brings an additional benefit – it strengthens respect, closeness, and trust between you.

However, if you cannot get your partner involved, that’s okay. It makes sense even if you start alone. Research shows that even a change from one partner can trigger a positive cycle of respect – the other will gradually start to notice the difference and react differently. It’s enough if one person starts, and the relationship can begin to change for the better.

Whether you do the exercises together or individually, they are an opportunity for you to grow and deepen your skills in building a long-term satisfying partnership.
If you want to complete the training together with your partner, enter their email when registering or forward the registration link so they can register and participate with you.

What to expect
At the beginning, you will complete several questionnaires about your relationship (approx. 20 minutes). Then, the system will randomly assign you to one of two groups:

  • the intervention group, which will complete a 14-day training, or
  • the control group, which will fill out the questionnaires at the same time points but will receive access to the exercises after the research is completed.

If you are assigned to the intervention group, you will engage in 14 days of simple exercises in the app – each day a different one, focused on experiencing and strengthening respect.
Each exercise takes about 15 minutes. After completing it, you will answer a few questions to help you reflect on your experience.
At the end of the training, you will complete the same set of questionnaires, and once again one month later, so that we can see how long the effects last.

If you were assigned to the control group, you can take part in the Respect in Relationship training at this time point. If you were in the intervention group, you can now participate in any other training available at www.self-growth-institute.com.
